Di Pacci — Single Group Dual Boiler Flow-Control Espresso Machine

Slayer Espresso 1 Group Custom Alt Blue

The Slayer Single Group puts Slayer's needle-valve flow control on a one-group machine, here finished in a custom Alt Blue.

The Slayer Espresso Single Group is a dual boiler espresso machine with a 1.1 litre PID-controlled brew boiler, a separate 3.3 litre steam boiler and a commercial rotary vane pump. Its defining feature is Slayer's patented needle valve: a three-position brew actuator lets you run a slow, restricted pre-brew flow before switching to full pressure, so you can grind finer and draw out more sweetness.

This unit is finished in a custom Alt Blue. It runs on a standard 220–240 V, 10 A supply, and the pump can draw from mains water or an external reservoir, which makes it workable at home, in an office or on a small specialty bar. A shot mirror under the group lets you watch the puck saturate during the slow pre-brew phase.

Key Features of the Slayer 1 Group

💧 Needle-valve flow control

Restrict flow during pre-brew, then open to full pressure, to grind finer and draw out sweetness and body.

🎚️ Three-position actuator

One lever moves between off, pre-brew and brew, so changing flow is quick and repeatable.

🔥 Separate brew and steam boilers

A 1.1 litre PID brew boiler and a 3.3 litre steam boiler let you pull and steam at the same time.

⚙️ Commercial rotary vane pump

Gets to pressure fast and can draw from mains water or an external reservoir.

🪞 Shot mirror

See the underside of the portafilter to judge saturation during pre-brew.

🏗️ Commercial-style group

Slayer rates the group at one million cycles, so it is built to run every day.

How Slayer's Needle Valve Changes the Shot

Most machines deliver water to the puck at full pump pressure from the start. Slayer puts a needle valve in the brew path so you choose how quickly water reaches the coffee.

  • In the pre-brew position the needle valve restricts flow, wetting the puck slowly at low pressure.
  • Because the puck saturates gently, you can grind finer than usual without the shot choking or channelling.
  • Moving the actuator to brew opens full flow and pressure for the main extraction.

The finer grind and gentle start give more developed sweetness and body, which is why Slayer machines are popular with light-roast specialty coffee.

Slayer Espresso 1 Group — Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Slayer Single Group different?

Its patented needle valve and three-position actuator let you slow the flow of water during pre-brew before full pressure, so you can grind finer and get a sweeter, fuller shot.

Does the Slayer 1 Group run on a 10 amp outlet?

Yes. The 220 to 240 V model draws 10 A at 2.1 to 2.4 kW, so it runs from a standard Australian outlet.

Does it need to be plumbed in?

The rotary vane pump can draw from mains water or an external reservoir, and an optional removable drip tray suits non-plumbed set-ups. Talk to us about the best set-up for your space.

Is the Slayer Single Group a dual boiler?

Yes. It has a 1.1 litre PID-controlled brew boiler and a separate 3.3 litre steam boiler, so you can brew and steam at the same time.

How big and heavy is it?

It measures 47 cm wide, 58 cm deep and 33 cm high, excluding the portafilter, actuators and cup rail, and weighs about 50 kg.
