Is the Niche Zero really zero retention?

It's designed to get as close to zero as a single-dose grinder reasonably can, thanks to the straight-through grind path. In practice a very small amount of grind can remain in the burr chamber, but it's minimal compared to hopper-fed grinders.

Can I use it for both espresso and filter coffee?

Yes. The stepless dial covers the full range from fine espresso grinds through to coarser filter settings, so one grinder handles both without needing separate equipment.

How loud is it?
