Di Pacci — Hand-Built Single Group Dual Boiler Espresso Machine, Made to Order
Kees van der Westen Speedster Custom Order
The Speedster is Kees van der Westen's single group dual boiler, hand-built in the Netherlands to the finish and options you choose.
The Kees van der Westen Speedster is a one-group espresso machine with two 316L stainless steel boilers: a 2.1 litre coffee boiler that houses the group and a 3.5 litre steam boiler. Each boiler has its own PID, with coffee temperature adjustable to 0.1°C, and an external 300 W rotary pump feeds the machine from a plumbed water supply.
This listing is a custom order. Each Speedster is built to your specification, with body panels in engine-turned stainless, crackle black or any RAL colour, and options such as the Idro-Matic adjustable pre-infusion cylinder, a flip-flop steam valve, a foot-activated steam valve and ivory or timber details. It's a machine for people who want café-level steam and temperature control at home or on a small bar, and who are prepared to wait for one made for them.

Key Features of the Speedster
🔥 Two stainless steel boilers
A 2.1 litre coffee boiler and a 3.5 litre steam boiler let you pull a shot and steam milk at the same time without waiting.
🌡️ PID on each boiler
Coffee temperature is adjustable to 0.1°C, so you can set each coffee where it tastes best.
⚙️ External rotary pump
A 300 W rotary pump runs quietly from mains water and holds steady pressure through the shot.
💨 Real steam power
Two 900 W elements heat the steam boiler for steady, café-style milk texturing.
🧪 Idro-Matic option
An adjustable pre-infusion cylinder controls how pressure rises before full 9 bar extraction.
🎨 Built to your spec
Engine-turned, crackle black or any RAL colour panels, with optional flip-flop or foot steam valves and timber or ivory details.
Why the Speedster's Group Stays Stable
On the Speedster the group sits inside the coffee boiler's circuit rather than hanging off a heat exchanger, so the brew water and the metal around it are held at the temperature the PID sets.
- The coffee boiler's PID holds brew water to within a tenth of a degree of your setting.
- A 0.6 mm jet between the group solenoid and the group neck limits peak flow, giving the puck a gentler start.
- The separate steam boiler does all the milk work, so steaming never pulls heat away from the coffee side.
The result is shot-to-shot consistency you'd normally only find on a commercial multi-boiler machine, in a one-group footprint.

- Want paddle-controlled pressure profiling; look at the La Marzocco GS3 MP
Kees van der Westen Speedster — Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Kees van der Westen Speedster a dual boiler?
Yes. It has a 2.1 litre coffee boiler that includes the group and a separate 3.5 litre steam boiler, both in 316L stainless steel and each with its own PID.
What power does the Speedster need?
It runs on 220 to 240 V single phase. At 230 V it peaks at 3100 W and 13.5 A in normal mode, or 2200 W and 9.6 A in reduced mode. We recommend a dedicated circuit for full power.
Does the Speedster have a water tank?
No. It uses an external rotary pump connected to a plumbed, treated water supply, so you need a water point and a drain within 1.5 metres of the machine.
What can I customise on a Speedster?
Body panels can be engine-turned stainless, crackle black or any RAL colour, with a choice of side panel designs. Options include the Idro-Matic pre-infusion cylinder, flip-flop or foot steam valves, and ivory or timber details.
How long does a custom Speedster take?
Each Speedster is hand-built to order in the Netherlands, so lead time depends on your options and the factory schedule. Call (02) 9758 0760 for a current lead time.
What is the Idro-Matic?
It is an optional adjustable pre-infusion cylinder that controls how quickly pressure rises at the start of the shot before full 9 bar extraction.
How heavy is the Speedster?
About 45 kg, so the bench needs to be solid and level.
