Di Pacci — Independent-Boiler Commercial Espresso Machine

La Marzocco Strada S Coffee Machine

The La Marzocco Strada S gives every group its own saturated boiler, so a busy bar can run each head at its own temperature and stop each shot by volume or by weight.

The La Marzocco Strada S is a 2 or 3 group commercial espresso machine built in Florence. Each group has an independent insulated coffee boiler under PID control, backed by an 8.2 litre (2 group) or 11.8 litre (3 group) steam boiler with its own PID. Choose AV for programmable auto-volumetric doses, or ABR for scales built into the drip tray that end each shot at a target weight.

The Strada S sits on the same platform as the paddle-driven Strada X, but swaps manual pressure profiling for repeatable push-button workflow. That makes it the Strada for high-volume specialty bars that want independent group temperatures and weight-based consistency without asking every barista to profile shots by hand.

Key Features of the Strada S

☕ Independent group boilers

Each group has its own saturated coffee boiler, so you can run a different temperature on each head for different coffees.

⚖️ Auto Brew Ratio option

On ABR models, precision scales in the drip tray stop each shot at a set weight, with drip prediction to land the final yield.

🔁 Auto-volumetric dosing

AV models store programmable doses per group, so every barista pours the same recipe on a busy morning.

💨 Pro Touch steam wands

The steam wands stay cool to the touch, which makes wiping down safer and stops milk baking onto the tip.

🎚️ Proportional steam valve

A lever-style actuator opens the solenoid steam valve progressively, giving fine control when texturing small jugs.

🧊 Insulated boilers and Eco mode

Insulated boilers and programmable stand-by reduce energy use while helping temperature stability.

Why Independent Boilers Matter Behind the Bar

On a shared-boiler machine every group brews at the same temperature. The Strada S gives each group its own saturated boiler with PID, so the machine behaves like two or three separate espresso machines sharing one steam boiler.

  • Set the house blend on one group and a light single origin on another, each at the temperature it needs.
  • Each small coffee boiler recovers on its own, so a rush on one group doesn't drag down the next.
  • Add ABR and the scales end each shot at a target weight, removing the biggest source of shot-to-shot drift.

The result is a bar that can serve two very different espressos side by side at speed, with consistency that doesn't depend on who is on the machine.

What's in the Box

  • La Marzocco Strada S espresso machine (2 or 3 group)
  • Portafilters and filter baskets

You'll also need a commercial espresso grinder, water filtration sized for the machine, and a plumber and electrician for installation. Call us for the full accessory list supplied with your configuration.

Strada S 2 Group vs 3 Group

Both versions share the same group design and controls. The choice comes down to volume and bench space.

Feature 2 Group 3 Group
Width 830 mm 1030 mm
Coffee boilers (total) 2.6 L 3.9 L
Steam boiler 8.2 L 11.8 L
Element wattage 4330–5666 W 5830–7783 W
Weight 77 kg 94 kg

Di Pacci recommendation: Choose the 2 group for most specialty cafés, and the 3 group when you run two baristas on espresso through long peaks. Don't bother with the Strada S if you want to profile pressure shot by shot; the Strada X is built for that.

Best Grinders for the Strada S

A machine this consistent needs on-demand grinders that hold their dose through a rush. Grind-by-weight models suit the ABR workflow best.

Grinder Burr Why it pairs well
Mahlkönig E65S GbW 65 mm flat Grind-by-weight dosing pairs naturally with ABR's yield-by-weight shots
Eureka Atom W75 75 mm flat Weight-based dosing in a compact footprint for a second hopper
Mahlkönig E80 Supreme 80 mm flat Large burrs and fast grinding for the main blend on a 3 group

La Marzocco Strada S Coffee Machine — Frequently Asked Questions

Does the La Marzocco Strada S do pressure profiling?

No. The Strada S controls temperature with PID and doses by volume (AV) or by weight (ABR). Manual pressure profiling with a paddle is the job of the Strada X.

What is the difference between Strada S AV and ABR?

AV models stop each shot at a programmed volume and have an adjustable drip tray. ABR models have precision scales built into the drip tray and stop each shot at a target weight, using drip prediction to land the final yield.

What power and plumbing does the Strada S need?

It runs on 220 to 240 V single phase, with element loads of 4330 to 5666 W for the 2 group and 5830 to 7783 W for the 3 group. It must be hard-wired to a dedicated circuit and connected to mains water and a drain, so your electrician should size the circuit before delivery.

How big are the Strada S boilers?

Each group has its own saturated coffee boiler, totalling 2.6 litres on the 2 group and 3.9 litres on the 3 group. The steam boiler is 8.2 litres on the 2 group and 11.8 litres on the 3 group.

How much bench space does the Strada S need?

The 2 group is 830 mm wide and the 3 group is 1030 mm wide, both 690 mm deep and 500 mm high. Allow extra room either side for grinders and service access.

Does Di Pacci install and service the Strada S?

Yes. Installation is free for Sydney metro areas, and our in-house service team supports La Marzocco machines with parts in stock. Call (02) 9758 0760 to plan your installation or lead time.

Can I run different coffees on each group?

Yes. Because each group has an independent boiler, you can set a different brew temperature on each head, for example a darker house blend on one and a light single origin on another.
