Description

Prosumer Espresso — Rotary, Compact

Bezzera Sole PID — E61, Heat Exchanger, Tank or Plumbed

A compact heat-exchanger machine just 305mm wide, pairing a full E61 group with a quiet rotary pump and digital PID — and the flexibility to run from its 4-litre tank or be plumbed straight into a water line.

The Sole is the machine for someone who wants café-grade parts in a package that respects a home bench. A 2-litre brass heat exchanger drives simultaneous brewing and steaming, the E61 group brings its familiar temperature stability and pre-infusion, and a rotary pump keeps the pour quiet and steady. What makes the Sole unusually flexible is its dual water supply — start on the 4-litre tank, and plumb it in later if your setup changes.

What sets the Sole apart

Bezzera has built espresso machines in Milan since 1901. The Sole packs a rotary pump, PID and a full E61 group into a 305mm-wide body — features you'd normally step up in size and price to reach — and lets you choose tank or plumbed operation.

Compact 305mm footprint

At 305mm wide, the Sole fits benches that can't take a full-size prosumer machine while still carrying a 2-litre HX boiler and rotary pump. It's a serious machine that doesn't dominate the kitchen.

Rotary pump, tank or plumbed

The rotary pump runs quietly and steadily and draws from a 4-litre tank or a mains water line. You can start tank-fed and plumb it in later without changing machines.

E61 group with thermosyphon

The Faema-derived E61 group uses thermosyphon circulation to hold a stable temperature between shots and delivers natural pre-infusion — the foundation of even extraction that made it an industry benchmark.

Digital PID, adjustable in 1°C steps

PID holds brew temperature precisely and can be set in single-degree increments, and the integrated shot timer helps you dial recipes to the second — control that turns a good shot into a repeatable one.

Who it suits

  • Home baristas who want E61 and a rotary pump without a full-size footprint
  • Setups that may move from tank to plumbed over time
  • Enthusiasts who want precise PID control and the option of flow profiling
  • Small offices and studios serving a serious single cup

Setup note: the Sole runs from its 4-litre tank on a standard 10-amp power point, or can be plumbed into a mains line. Whichever you use, fit appropriate water filtration and keep to a descaling routine — scale is the main thing that shortens the life of a heat-exchanger boiler.

Getting the best out of it

Water quality decides how long the boiler lasts and how clean the cup tastes. Use filtered or appropriately treated water — in the tank or through a plumbed filter — and keep to a replacement schedule. It's the cheapest maintenance on a machine at this level.

The Sole's PID and optional flow control reward a grinder that holds its setting shot to shot. Pair it with a quality burr grinder from our coffee grinders for home range and fresh beans from our coffee beans selection. The rest of the range is in coffee machines for home.

Frequently asked questions

Can the Sole run without plumbing?

Yes. It has a 4-litre internal tank and runs on a standard 10-amp power point, so no plumbing is required. If your setup changes, the rotary pump can also be plumbed into a mains water line.

How compact is it?

The Sole is 305mm wide, which is compact for a heat-exchanger machine with a rotary pump and E61 group. It fits benches that can't take a full-size prosumer machine without dropping the specification.

Can I brew and steam at the same time?

Yes. The 2-litre brass heat exchanger heats brew water on demand while holding steam pressure, so you can pull espresso and steam milk together and keep up through a run of milk drinks.

How precise is the temperature control?

The digital PID can be set in single-degree steps and holds brew temperature to that set point. With the integrated shot timer, it lets you repeat a dialled-in recipe precisely from one shot to the next.

Is flow control available?

Yes — an E61 flow-control device is offered as an option. It lets you slow or ramp water flow during the shot to profile pressure by hand, adding a layer of control on top of the PID and E61 group.

Where is Bezzera made?

Bezzera has manufactured espresso machines in Milan, Italy since 1901. The Sole is made in Italy.
