A compact 54mm flat burr grinder built for single-dosing, with a redesigned ioniser chute that tackles static and delivers consistent grinds for espresso through to pour-over.

The DF54 V3 packs the same build quality as its larger sibling, the DF64, into a smaller footprint that suits most kitchen benches. It's one of the few 54mm flat-burr grinders at this price point, and the V3 revision adds a built-in ioniser in the exit chute specifically to cut down on the static that makes single-dose grinders messy to use.

Why the DF54 has built a following

Single-dose grinders live or die on retention and consistency — leftover grounds sitting in the chute go stale and taint the next shot. The DF54's straight-through design and anti-static hardware were built specifically to solve that problem.

Custom 54mm flat burrs

Purpose-made stainless steel flat burrs deliver a uniform grind across the full range from fine espresso to coarser pour-over settings.

Under 0.1g retention

Even without the included bellow fitted, retention stays under a tenth of a gram — a genuinely low figure for a grinder in this price bracket.

Built-in static elimination

A plasma generator (ioniser) in the exit chute is the headline change on the V3 — it cuts static significantly, so grounds land in the dosing cup instead of clinging to the chute walls.

Stepless, visible adjustment

The chrome-wrapped dial with a metal indicator lets you dial in and return to a setting precisely, rather than guessing between fixed steps.

How it compares

The DF54 is built to the same standard as Turin's larger DF64 grinder but in a smaller body better suited to a tight kitchen bench or coffee station. If you regularly grind for a household or larger batches, the DF64's bigger hopper and burr set may suit you better; for single-serve, single-dose espresso and filter brewing, the DF54's compact size is the more practical choice.

The DF54 plugs into a standard single-phase power point — no special wiring is needed. Give it a stable, level surface with enough headroom to lift the hopper lid and swap the dosing cup comfortably.

Getting the best out of it

Adjust the grind with the motor running, and purge the bellow while it's still turning to clear any lingering grounds from the chute — this is where the ioniser earns its keep on the V3. Do I need the bellow attachment?

No — the DF54 already achieves under 0.1g retention without it. The bellow mainly increases hopper capacity to 50g and helps purge any last grounds from the chute after grinding.

What does the anti-popcorn feature do?

It stops beans bouncing and splitting unevenly as they feed into the burrs, which keeps grind speed up and particle size more consistent.
