Automatic Tamping Machine

Mazzer T-Tamper — Black

The T-Tamper is a benchtop automatic tamping machine that distributes, levels and tamps ground coffee to a precise, repeatable pressure — removing the guesswork and the wrist strain of manual tamping.

Every barista tamps slightly differently, and on a busy bar that inconsistency shows up as shot-to-shot variation. The T-Tamper takes that variable out of the equation: load a portafilter, and the machine handles distribution and tamping to the same calibrated pressure, every time. It's a compact stainless steel unit built to sit permanently on the bench alongside your grinder rather than a one-off accessory.

  • Load Cell Feedback
  • 10–35kg Range
  • Two Tamp Profiles
  • 1.2M Cycle Tested
  • Stainless Steel
  • Black Finish

Why the T-Tamper has the reputation it does

Mazzer built the T-Tamper around one problem: manual tamping is inherently inconsistent, and repetitive tamping motion is a genuine occupational strain risk for baristas doing it hundreds of times a shift. The machine's rigid stainless steel structure and load-cell feedback control are what make it hold precision cycle after cycle rather than drifting over time.

Load cell feedback control

Tamping pressure is measured and adjusted in real time by a load cell, holding each tamp within ±0.5kg of your set point across a 10–35kg adjustable range — not a fixed spring pressure that varies with wear.

Rigid, non-flexing structure

A solid stainless steel body keeps the tamping head perfectly parallel to the puck under load. Cheaper tampers can flex slightly during the cycle; the T-Tamper's build is what prevents that.

Two programmable tamp profiles

Switch between Fast (single tamp) for high-volume service and Super Precise (double tamp) when extraction consistency matters most — with two custom pressure presets you can flip between instantly.

Built for barista wellbeing

Removing thousands of manual tamping motions a week is a genuine ergonomic benefit for teams doing high-volume service, reducing repetitive strain on wrists, hands and elbows.

See it in action

Who it suits

  • Cafés and commercial venues wanting shot-to-shot tamping consistency across a whole team of baristas
  • High-volume sites where repetitive manual tamping is a genuine strain concern for staff
  • Specialty operators dialling in extraction who want tamping removed as a variable entirely
  • Anyone pairing precision grinding with a commercial coffee machine and wanting the same rigour applied to the puck prep step

Setup: The T-Tamper is a benchtop unit that runs from a standard power outlet — no plumbing, drainage or special electrical supply needed. Full depth and height dimensions are available on request if you're planning bench space precisely; the 140mm width is the figure to work from for placement next to your grinder.

Getting the best out of it

The T-Tamper's consistency is only as good as the grind feeding it — pairing it with a commercial coffee grinder that holds its own setting reliably means the two work together rather than one masking the other's variation. Start with the Fast single-tamp mode for standard service, and switch to Super Precise when you're dialling in a new bean or bag. If you run different basket sizes across the bar, the adjustable portafilter holder should be re-checked for parallelism whenever you change portafilter models.

Frequently asked questions

What tamping pressure does the T-Tamper apply?

It's adjustable across a 10kg to 35kg range, held to within ±0.5kg of your chosen set point by load cell feedback control. You can also store two custom pressure presets for quick switching.

What's the difference between Fast and Super Precise mode?

Fast mode applies a single tamp and suits high-volume service. Super Precise mode applies a double tamp for extra consistency, which is useful when you're dialling in a new bean or want the tightest possible repeatability.

Will it fit any portafilter?

The portafilter holder is adjustable to suit different portafilter types, including bottomless (naked) portafilters, and can be swapped without tools. The standard tamper head is Ø58.3mm; a Ø53mm head is available as an optional extra for smaller baskets.

How much bench space does it need?

It's a compact, vertical-growth design that's only 140mm wide, so it sits comfortably alongside a grinder without taking up much bench footprint.

Is it hard to clean?

No — the portafilter holder is removable without tools for quick cleaning, and the tamper head rotates to keep itself clear of coffee during operation.

What's covered if something goes wrong?

Please see our returns and warranty policy page for full terms, as cover varies by product and fault type.
