Di Pacci — 180mm Flat Burr Industrial Coffee Grinder
Mahlkönig DK27 LVS Industrial Grinder
The Mahlkönig DK27 LVS is a roastery-scale grinder built to turn out pre-ground coffee by the hundred kilos an hour, all day.
The Mahlkönig DK27 LVS is an industrial disc grinder with 180 mm hardened special-steel burrs, a 5.5 kW three-phase motor and a rated output of roughly 280 kg/h on a fine grind and 300 kg/h on a medium grind. It stands on its own base with a 30 kg bean hopper above and a 200 litre mobile container underneath to catch the ground coffee.
This is equipment for roasters, co-packers and production lines rather than a cafe counter. The motor has surface cooling and extra fans for continuous running, the bearings are permanently greased, hopper magnets catch stray metal before it reaches the burrs, and a stepless adjustment wheel lets you return to a grind setting accurately from batch to batch. It's a special-order item, so call us before you plan production around a delivery date.

Key Features of the Mahlkönig DK27 LVS
⚙️ 180 mm special-steel burrs
Large, fully hardened discs cut the beans cleanly and are rated for roughly 10 to 15 tonnes of coffee at a medium setting before replacement.
🏭 Built for continuous running
A surface-cooled three-phase motor with high starting torque and two extra motor fans is designed to run shift after shift.
🧲 Hopper magnets
Integrated magnets in the bean hopper catch metal fragments before they can damage the burrs.
🌬️ Cooled grinder casing
Air cooling of the motor and grinding chamber limits heat build-up during long production runs.
🎚️ Repeatable stepless setting
The adjustment wheel gives fine, accurate control so each batch can be ground to the same specification.
🛡️ Low-maintenance design
Service-free, permanently greased bearings and electrical overload protection reduce unplanned downtime.
Why Burr Size Matters at Production Scale
In an industrial grinder, burr diameter sets how much coffee passes through the cutting zone each second, and how hard the motor has to work to get it there.
- Bigger 180 mm discs move far more coffee per revolution, so the DK27 reaches high output at a relatively slow 980 rpm on 50 Hz power.
- Slower burr speed means less friction heat in the grind chamber, helped further by the cooled casing.
- Even, repeatable particle size from batch to batch keeps extraction consistent once the coffee is packed and brewed by your customers.
The result is a grinder that can feed a packing line for a full shift while keeping the grind profile steady, which is exactly what a roastery needs from a production grinder.

DK27 LVS vs DK27 LVH
Mahlkönig built the DK27 in two burr versions. The frame, motor and hopper are the same; the burrs decide output and service life.

Di Pacci recommendation: The LVS suits roasters who want the highest output per hour and are happy to change burrs periodically. Don't bother with a DK27 at all if you grind less than a few hundred kilos a week; a large deli grinder such as the Mahlkönig EK43 range is far easier to install and run.
Who This Grinder Is For
✓ Ideal if you:
- Run a roastery or packing operation grinding hundreds of kilos a day
- Need a grinder that can run continuously on a production line
- Have three-phase power and floor space for a 160 cm tall unit
- Want repeatable grind settings batch to batch
- Value metal protection and low-maintenance bearings
✗ Consider alternatives if you:
- Only have single-phase 10 or 15 amp power; the DK27 needs three-phase 380 to 415 V
- Grind retail bags to order in a shop; see our deli coffee grinders
- Need an on-demand espresso grinder; see commercial coffee grinders
- Have less than about 80 × 125 cm of floor space
Mahlkönig DK27 LVS — Frequently Asked Questions
What output does the Mahlkönig DK27 LVS deliver?
Mahlkönig rates the DK27 LVS at approximately 280 kg per hour on a fine grind and 300 kg per hour on a medium grind. Actual output depends on the beans, roast and grind setting.
What power supply does the DK27 LVS need?
It has a 5500 W three-phase motor running on 380 to 415 V, 50 Hz. You need a dedicated three-phase circuit installed by a licensed electrician; it cannot run from a standard power point.
How long do the DK27 LVS burrs last?
The hardened special-steel burrs are rated for roughly 10 to 15 tonnes of coffee at a medium setting. If you need longer intervals between changes, the tungsten carbide LVH version is rated for 35 to 40 tonnes.
How big is the Mahlkönig DK27 LVS?
It measures 79 cm wide, 160 cm high and 123 cm deep including the base, and weighs 155 kg net. Plan for forklift or pallet-jack access on delivery.
Can the DK27 grind for espresso?
The standard burrs are set up for pre-ground filter and plunger coffee. Mahlkönig offers optional burrs for espresso and Turkish grinds, which need to be specified when ordering.
