La Marzocco · Commercial Espresso

Linea PB commercial — Commercial Espresso

The Linea PB is La Marzocco's modern take on the machine that defined commercial specialty coffee. Dual insulated boilers, saturated groups and dual PID control, in a commercial configuration.

Named after Piero Bambi, the Linea PB is the evolution of the Linea Classic — the same thermal architecture that built La Marzocco's reputation, brought forward with electronic control over boiler temperatures, dose volumes, hot water and backflushing directly from the front panel.

Why this platform holds temperature

Thermal stability is the whole argument for a machine at this level, and on the Linea PB it comes from two design decisions working together rather than from a single headline feature.

Saturated group heads

The group is integrated into the coffee boiler, so brew water never leaves the boiler before reaching the coffee. The temperature drop that comes with travelling to a separate group simply does not happen.

Dual insulated boilers

Separate coffee and steam boilers, each independently PID controlled to within half a degree. Steam demand during a milk rush does not drag brew temperature around behind it.

Auto Brew Ratio with integrated scales

Scales in the drip tray weigh the dose, then the machine pulls to your target output ratio rather than a fixed volume. The recipe holds steady as beans age and grind drifts.

Built for the bar

Pro-touch steam wands stay cool to the handle. A digital display carries shot timers and settings. Automatic backflush, eco mode and a hot water tap with its own mixing valve round out a machine designed around service, not spec sheets.

Buying this one new

This is a new machine, supplied as a current-production Linea PB. Everything on it is unused, and it arrives with the full complement of components La Marzocco ships from the factory. For a machine intended to run every day for a decade or more, buying new means the whole of that service life is ahead of it rather than partly spent.

Whichever condition you buy in, check the terms that apply before ordering — our Shipping, Returns & Warranty page sets out what cover applies, and it differs between new and used equipment.

Where a commercial fits

The Linea PB is built in 2, 3 and 4 group configurations. It is worth sizing to your bar layout and staffing as much as to your projected cup count, because workflow tends to be the real constraint long before the machine is.

Installation: this is a plumbed, high-draw commercial machine. It requires a mains water connection, drainage and a suitable dedicated electrical supply. Have a licensed electrician confirm your supply and a qualified technician handle installation and commissioning before first use.

Getting the best out of it

Water treatment is not optional on commercial equipment. Untreated supply scales boilers and shortens the life of everything downstream, so fit filtration or softening appropriate to your local water and keep to a replacement schedule. On a machine built to run for well over a decade, it is the cheapest protection available.

The grinder matters just as much. A saturated-group machine with dual PID will expose an inconsistent grind rather than disguise it, so the grinder is the wrong place to save money. Our commercial coffee grinders range covers models that hold a setting through a full service, and the wider commercial coffee machines collection is there if you are still comparing platforms.

How to order

Freight is calculated at checkout, and our Shipping, Returns & Warranty page covers delivery and returns terms. For questions on configuration, fit-out or timing, contact our team, or see our finance options if you would rather spread the cost.

Common questions

What does the saturated group design actually do?

The group head is integrated into the coffee boiler, so brew water never leaves the boiler before it hits the coffee. That removes the temperature drop that occurs when water travels to a separate group, which is the main reason the Linea PB holds temperature shot after shot.

Is the Linea PB available as a semi-automatic?

No. Every Linea PB is Auto-Volumetric, with programmable dose buttons for each group and a continuous flush button. The genuine choice on this platform is whether you want the ABR version with integrated drip-tray scales.

How does Auto Brew Ratio work?

Scales built into the drip tray weigh the dose in the portafilter, then the machine pulls the shot to the output ratio you have set rather than to a fixed volume. It holds the recipe steady even as beans age and grind drifts, which volumetric dosing alone cannot do.

How many groups should I choose?

The Linea PB is built in 2, 3 and 4 group configurations. Where sites hit a ceiling it is usually steam recovery and bar workflow rather than group count, so it is worth thinking about your layout and staffing alongside your cup numbers.

What do I need in place before installation?

A mains water connection, drainage and a suitable dedicated electrical supply. This is a plumbed, high-draw commercial appliance, so have a licensed electrician confirm your supply and a qualified technician carry out the installation and commissioning.

What maintenance does it need?

Daily backflushing and group cleaning, regular portafilter and basket hygiene, appropriate water filtration on a maintained replacement schedule, and periodic servicing by a qualified technician. Water treatment is the single most important item on that list.
