Di Pacci NZ — Kees Van Der Westen

Kees Van Der Westen Speedster Coffee Machine

An obsessively engineered single-group machine — the Speedster is built entirely in stainless steel, with a newly developed double boiler system and a PID-controlled coffee boiler accurate to 0.1°C. Available as Default or Idro-matic.

Every detail has been engineered for stability and longevity: a self-bleeding group with a POM diffuser that resists fouling, a progressive pre-infusion cylinder with a visible spring-loaded piston, and a heat-exchanger steam boiler that pre-heats water entering the coffee boiler.

Engineering in detail

Double boiler + PID

Electronic temperature controllers drive solid-state relays on both boilers, with a PID controller on the coffee boiler, adjustable to 0.1°C, and no moving parts in the heating system.

Heat-exchanger pre-heating

The steam boiler pre-heats water before it enters the coffee boiler, for genuine energy and temperature efficiency.

Progressive pre-infusion

A spring-loaded, chromed piston shaft visibly moves through the body panel during extraction, giving a slow, soft, progressive infusion.

Self-bleeding, POM-lined group

A POM plastic diffuser resists fouling from coffee oils and stays temperature-neutral, while the group self-bleeds air automatically.

Everyday usability

Lever activation

A small lever with an off-infuse-brew shift gate gives the barista direct control over each stage of the pull.

Dual hot water temperatures

Two different hot water temperatures are available through a single switch, for tea and other uses.

Teflon-coated filter holders

Resist baked-on oils and fats, needing just a quick wipe rather than scrubbing.

Height-adjustable drip tray

Adjusts to suit different cup heights for a comfortable, tidy workspace.

Frequently asked questions

How precise is the temperature control?

The coffee boiler is PID-controlled and adjustable to 0.1°C at the push of a front-panel button, with no moving parts in the heating system for a fast, reliable response.

What is the progressive pre-infusion cylinder?

A spring-loaded piston builds pressure gradually as the coffee grounds saturate, giving a slow, soft infusion. You can watch the piston shaft move through the front body panel during extraction.

What's the difference between Default and Idro-matic?
