Every good recommendation on how to make really great espresso always acknowledges the importance of good water in the process. Accordingly, the use of water filters becomes an important aspect of the process.

So, when I purchased a ECM Synchronica, I decided that I wanted to it to be plumbed in to the mains water line. In addition, I wanted the water to be filtered. Enter the BWT Bestmax PREMIUM S, as this seemed from my research to be a good all round filter. Di Pacci sold this as a kit, along with all the fittings and including a outlet tap to dispense filtered water for drinking. A local plumber brilliantly installed this kit, resulting in both the Synchronica and us "drinking" great filtered water. This filter has only needed replacing about every 9-12 months. We are about to be on our third filter.

While expensive perhaps, both the Synchronica (in terms of the espresso it produces, and protecting it internally) and ourselves certainly appreciate what the BWT filtered water is like.
