Moka Pots New Zealand

Brew rich Italian-style coffee with classic moka pots, the iconic stovetop espresso makers beloved for generations. Invented by Bialetti in 1933, moka pots produce strong concentrated coffee using steam pressure on any stovetop. From traditional aluminum models to modern stainless steel designs, moka pots deliver authentic Italian coffee culture at accessible pricing requiring no electricity or complex equipment.

Why Choose Moka Pot?

Simple reliable brewing requiring no electricity perfect for home travel and camping. Produces strong concentrated coffee similar to espresso at fraction of espresso machine cost. Iconic design represents Italian coffee tradition and heritage. Durable construction lasts decades with minimal maintenance requirements. Multiple sizes available from single serving to 12-cup capacity. Works on gas electric and induction stovetops depending on model material.

Moka Pot Types

Classic Aluminum Moka Pots – Traditional Bialetti design with aluminum construction. Most affordable option producing authentic Italian coffee. Not suitable for induction stovetops.

Stainless Steel Moka Pots – Modern construction with improved durability and easier cleaning. Induction-compatible models work on all stovetop types including induction.

Electric Moka Pots – Plug-in versions with automatic heating and shut-off. Convenient alternative to stovetop brewing.

Sizing and Capacity

Moka pots sized by cups referring to small Italian espresso cups approximately 60ml each. Common sizes include 1-cup, 3-cup, 6-cup, 9-cup, and 12-cup models. Choose size based on typical serving needs as pots must be filled completely for proper brewing. Smaller pots better for single servings while larger models suitable for entertaining or multiple people.

Brewing Tips

Use medium-fine grind slightly coarser than espresso for optimal extraction. Fill water chamber to just below pressure valve. Level coffee in basket without tamping or compressing. Use medium heat avoiding maximum temperature which causes burnt flavors. Remove from heat when sputtering begins preventing over-extraction. Clean regularly but avoid soap which affects aluminum's seasoning.

Complete Your Setup
