Pullman 19g-22g Pullman Precision Filter Basket

This is my second Pullman basket, for my second machine which I use at work. The basket ensures much better extraction and a better tasting coffee than what was available with the baskets supplied with each machine. I use it in my Simonelli Oscar 2. Well worth spending the money in improved flavour.

The holes in this would cover roughly double the surface area of the stock 18g Expobar basket it is replacing. This size covers the large double to small triple shot size range. It is a perfect fit for my 58.5mm tamper. You will have to grind a fair bit finer to slow down the pour, but the upside is superior extraction. I am honestly surprised how much sweeter, tastier and more balanced this makes my home roasted coffee taste, despite being stronger. I didn't think a basket could make that much of a difference. The only downside it you have to whack the knock box a lot harder to get the puck out compared to the standard tapered baskets.

I think this grinder is good value for money - a really good entry into better coffee grinding. It is loud, but this is known already. The grind is very uniform to my untrained eye and comes out clump free from the chamber. Grinds 20 grams in around 6.5-6.8 seconds at my grind size. Set dosing amounts via timer is really accurate and I find this a great feature of the grinder. I generally grind 19 grams then settle the grinds and add a short burst for the last gram, works very well. I did have to add one of the shims after about a month as I was finding the grind not small enough for my machine (breville dual boiler). All in all a great little machine for home use, with only one down side (the noise).

I got this to replace an Alocs CW-K17 Manual Hand Grinder, which I think is a Chinese Porlex clone. It is fine but the handle was wearing out, a design flaw I got this model to replace.
