Great!

Enjoying the new machine after the failure of the old one! Spending a little more on the PID was well worth it.

ECM Classika PID - good espresso machine

the order was fullfilled 14 days ago but only arrived 7 days ago - survey? TNT delivery status updates bordered on useless, infrequent and without useful info. you cannot review an item after 7 days - 3-6 months yes. It is a beautiful machine, the right hand panel is slightly warped (concave). I did my research thoroughly so for espresso only drinkers this should be a good machine - come back in a few month’s time. It would have been nice if the machine came with a bottomless portafilter. The heat-up time is very good. German engineering and Italian build - tick (not Chinese). ECM and Profitec are sister companies ECM has a better finish.

ECM Classika PID

Pure joy to make a good quality coffee every day with this machine. Easy to clean, easy to operate. Love it. Picked up at Di Pacci and was met with a warm welcome. Overall experience outstanding.

Great machine with a few quirks

ECM Classika is a wonderful machine. It produces great shots consistently. I have had no problem dialing it in and the interface is quite straightforward. Someone who enjoys espresso would love this machine. However, some things are a little finicky. If someone prefers a lot of milk beverages, that can be quite annoying in the morning with back-to-back drinks. The steam wand is powerful but fragile. It takes quite a bit of time to get up to the temperature for steaming (~2mins), especially since it's a single boiler. During my first two weeks, a little gasket-like thing broke off and was stuck inside the steam tip blocking steaming. It was an easy fix to unscrew the tip with an adjustable wrench and remove the gasket pieces. However, I would expect these little things will last more than 2 weeks. Another thing I don't enjoy is the water tank. I need to remove the cup warming tray to get to the water tank, and there are visual cues to see the water level. Though, the machine turns itself off if there's no water. I usually fill up the tank every morning. But one time I had friends over and was making a few drinks and the machine turned off mid-shot. Something to keep in mind. Other than these little annoyances, I'd recommend ECM Classika to someone enthusiastic about coffee and would prefer consistency in their drink.
